Singer and actress Ashanti will perform at Mayor Lorenzo Langford's inaugural gala on Friday at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.
Ashanti is the goddaughter of the mayor's wife, Nynell. She became famous in the early 2000s as a singer, songwriter, actress and model. Her hit songs include "Foolish" and "What's Luv?" She has won a Grammy Award, eight Billboard Awards, two American Music Awards, a NAACP Image Award, Lady of Soul Award and Teen Choice Award.
The gala event starts at 6 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at Trump Taj Mahal. The event is open to the public, and tickets are available at $250 per person. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, Police Athletic League and Robinson Small Learning Center. For more information, call 609-345-0787.
