Fresh Snow For Silvretta Arena Ahead Of Alicia Keys Concert

Almost all of the runs in the giant Silvretta Arena ski area on the Swiss-Austrian border remain open, and the region has reported 25cm (10 inches) of new snow in the past 24 hours.

220km of the region’s 235km of piste are open, one of the largest ski areas in the world open at present. 38 of the 40 lifts which connect the runs between Samnaun in Switzerland and Ischgl in Austria are currently operating.

On May 1st 2010 at 1pm Alicia Keys will follow in the illustrious ski tracks of famous names including Diana Ross, Elton John and others and perform on the Idalp-Open-Air stage above Ischgl at the famed Top of the Mountain Concert at 2,300m above sea level.
About 20,000 fans are expected for the concert, which follows on from the region’s 22nd Snowspring Festival this Sunday, April 25th, at the Alp Trida. The concert is frère-of-charge to lift pass holders.
